The Commitment

Our Crisis Line Volunteers answer calls in our Portland-based call center.

Each volunteer responds to calls from various helplines with emphasis on suicide & substance prevention, including lines focused on the wellbeing of youth, military & senior populations.

Crisis Lines Volunteers complete professional training and commit to completing a minimum of 200 hours, through one four-hour shift per week for about one year. Our volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. They have an empathetic and non-judgmental attitude, emotional intelligence, and the ability to make a long-term commitment.

Internships

Crisis Lines Intern Positions

Crisis Line interns answer calls in our Portland-based call center.

Each intern responds to calls from various helplines with emphasis on suicide & substance prevention, including lines focused on the wellbeing of youth, military & senior populations.

Crisis Line interns complete professional training and serve the lines for a minimum of 6 months, usually 12-16 hours per week. Our organization offers field supervision from qualified employees, primarily for BSW & MSW students. Our interns come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. They have an empathetic and non-judgmental attitude, emotional intelligence, and the ability to make a long-term commitment.
