Boeing Invests in Military-Support Training with Major Gift to Lines for Life
Funding expands culturally responsive suicide-prevention training for military communities
Portland, Ore. — Lines for Life and Boeing announce a $60,000 gift from Boeing to bolster the Military Cultural Awareness and Suicide Prevention (MCASP) training initiative. This investment supports the program’s mission to equip healthcare providers, behavioral health professionals, educators, families, and community members with culturally informed tools to better serve veterans, service members, and military families.
“This partnership enables us to deepen our reach across Oregon and the Pacific Northwest so those who have served our country get the compassionate, culturally responsive care they deserve. The MCASP program is a strong example of hope in action and, along with our Military Helpline, helps ensure no veteran or family member faces a crisis alone,” said Dwight Holton, CEO of Lines for Life.
MCASP recognizes veterans and other service-members face unique barriers to behavioral-health care and experience higher rates of suicide than their civilian peers. Through the training, participants learn language, culture, and cues specific to the military community; hone intervention and assessment skills; and apply trauma-informed, person-centered crisis-prevention practices.
“Boeing is honored to support Lines for Life and MCASP. With this gift, we hope to help build stronger bridges of understanding between providers and the military-connected community and contribute to reducing suicide risk among those who have served,” said Amy Frazier, Senior Community Relations Specialist at Boeing.
This gift will make the program more accessible by supporting the development of a one-day training offered several times a year for providers who support service members and veterans. It will also allow Lines for Life to expand culturally responsive trainings for veterans and their family members.”
“The MCASP training is designed to fill a critical gap in care by providing service-providers with the confidence and cultural awareness to meet veterans and service-members where they are. Thanks to Boeing’s support, we can expand virtual trainings and reach rural and underserved communities who often have the highest need,” said Amy White, Director of Training at Lines for Life.
