Older Adults Need Connection

The Lines for Life Senior Loneliness Line is a free resource for Oregon adults 55 and older who can benefit from a compassionate conversation with one of our call counselors. More than one in three older adults reports feeling lonely, and one in four seniors over age 65 is socially isolated.

Research shows that social connection can help keep people healthy, impacting physical wellness as well as mental health. Older adults are at increased risk for loneliness and social isolation because they are more likely to face factors such as living alone, the loss of friends and loved ones, chronic illness, and hearing loss.

Senior Loneliness Line callers often seek emotional support around…

  • Loneliness and isolation
  • Mental health and crisis
  • Family concerns
  • Physical health concerns

Call us today to connect with staff and volunteers who are specially trained in working with older adults to provide friendly conversation, support, and resource referral.

Providing Support Since 2018

Lines for Life’s Senior Loneliness Line is a low-barrier service that makes it easy for individuals who might be hesitant to engage in formal treatment to start building trust with a compassionate team of care providers working within a strength-based, person-centered model.

The Senior Loneliness Line launched in May 2018 as a partnership between Lines for Life and Clackamas County and expanded to statewide service in 2020 to support older adults through the social isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic. It continues as a statewide resource and partnership between Lines for Life and Oregon Health Authority.
