A career with us is about innovation and elevating human potential
Lines for Life is a non-profit organization that supports communities and individuals struggling with mental health issues, substance abuse, and overall mental wellness. We believe in supporting our communities through philanthropy, volunteerism, policy and advocacy, and a creative and innovative can-do spirit.
We unite diverse perspectives — Clinicians, community members, healthcare partners, volunteers, and everything in between. We understand that one size does not fit all, so we employ people from all backgrounds across the country to ensure we can connect, provide the best care possible, and make a difference for people around the state of Oregon and throughout the country.
We believe that a culture of belonging, lived experience, and understanding sets the tone and foundation for all people to be their most authentic selves and do their best work. This approach, combined with our quality of care, is why this is a great place to work!

Career Areas
Crisis Lines
Crisis Lines staff and supervisors ensure that our phone and text-based support services are available 24/7 and maintain high standards of clinical excellence. They operate and answer crisis helpline calls with compassion and care, building hope with those who are struggling. Rather than specializing in one helpline, our Crisis Lines staff are trained to support callers from all of our several helplines.
Youthline
YouthLine staff work with teen volunteers to run this innovative national program that combines educational outreach, youth development, and helpline support for young people in distress.
Prevention Programs
Prevention staff work “upstream” to identify and implement effective strategies to reduce suicide and substance use before they reach crisis levels. They work directly with communities, leaders, and experts on these projects and programs.
Organizational Support
Professionals in a variety of roles, including IT, Marketing, HR, Operations, and more, support our programs and leaders to move this important work forward.
Leadership
Our leaders and Directors inspire and develop their teams to do better for our communities, every day.
“At Lines for Life, I can balance my work life with my family life. Here, I connect with caring people doing essential work to make our communities more resilient and compassionate. I get to work with motivated and results-driven professionals, who are all-in on preventing substance use and suicide. It is challenging and fun work that matters!”
“Lines for Life has given me all the tools, resources, and supervisory support to do my job as effectively as possible. I knew it was the place for me when early on, trainers emphasized self-care for clinicians. From the amount of paid time off (PTO) we earn to the support from supervisors to ensure we are okay after tough calls, I feel valued and supported by management. I’m extremely grateful to be an employee at this organization and I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else.”
