Addiction, left untreated, often precipitates a crisis for individuals and families.
At Lines for Life, we screen callers for substance abuse using tools like CAGE, a widely accepted method of identifying addiction and alcoholism. The Crisis Intervention Specialists (CIS) use motivational- interviewing techniques to provide brief interventions designed to move callers from contemplation to action.
The Alcohol and Drug Helpline assists individuals all over the state who want to seek help with substance abuse problems. Many of the calls are from concerned friends and loved ones who need information and referrals.
The CIS answering the Helpline offer confidential assistance to the callers. They are there to help and not to judge. Engaging the callers in conversation, they help identify the caller’s specific situation as well as help move the caller towards action in their recovery.
As a final step, we refer to treatment. We link callers to inpatient and outpatient treatment as well as counseling and recovery services. Equipped with an extensive database, the CIS can give the caller referrals to their local community resources, including de-tox.
Lines for Life is dedicated to helping our callers on their journey of recovery.
