In the year ending April 2024, nearly <b>1,900 Oregonians<\/b> lost their lives to overdose\u2014a <b>22% increase<\/b> from the previous year. While many states are seeing reductions, our communities continue to face devastating losses.<\/p>\n<p>Lines for Life is working to <b>combat fentanyl upstream<\/b> by developing innovative prevention strategies <b>tailored to the cultural needs of Oregon communities<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve partnered with the <b>Somali American Council of Oregon (SACOO)<\/b> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.songforcharlie.org\/\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\">Song for Charlie<\/a>\u2014a national leader in fentanyl prevention\u2014to create prevention messaging that truly resonates with Somali Oregonians.<\/p>\n<p><b>Our approach:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul class=\"custom-checklist\">\n<li><b>Hosting youth and parent focus groups<\/b> to ensure effective, culturally appropriate messaging.\n<li><b>Adapting evidence-based materials<\/b> to fit Somali community needs.\n<li><b>Collaborating with community leaders<\/b> to shape messaging that builds trust and engagement.\n<\/ul>\n<p>This work is just the beginning.
